congratulations william and kate

Hello everybody,

What a wonderful day its been for Great Britain. We have celebrated the wedding of a lovely couple who have made us all very proud to be British. All the pomp and ceremony that us Brits do so well. Didnt Kate look so beautiful.

I down loaded these union jack pictures from google images. Dont they just suit the occassion.

I have been working hard on my crochet cushion cover for my newly decorated smallest bedroom.

Its taken me a few attempts to get used to crochet again as i havent done any for a long long time. Im really getting the hang of it now and its becoming addictive. Loving hooky time at the mo.

Hope you have all had a wonderful day watching the wedding and enjoying the celebrations. Im now sat relaxing while my lovely hubbie cooks the tea. Hes my special man.

See you all soon.

special days

I love the easter holiday weekend. Its spring time and the summer is ahead of us. Good times.

Ive had a lovely day spent with my parents and have had another lovely long walk with my two special boys. He he Charlie and hubby. Both are now snoozing on the sofa. What a dog on the sofa i hear you say.... what can i say, he likes his home comforts.

Do you like my little chicken egg cup? i couldnt resist. He was reduced to a pound. He now sits in my kitchen window along side a wooden duck carved out of an old log.

I sneaked a bit of lovely knitting time early this morning when most of the country was still asleep. I love early spring mornings and a bit of crafting gets the day of to a good start. Another little flower brooch looking for a good home.

Im enjoying creating flowers at the moment. Must be all this lovely weather we have been having lately.

Lots to choose from. Decisions decisions.

I hope that you are all having a lovely Easter day my lovelies. Melanie x

oh happy days

hello everyone on this another hot and sunny day. we have been so blessed this easter with lovely warm weather. all the blossom is out in glorious full bloom and the leaves on the trees are a vibrant green and life is just perfect when the sun shines and you can sit out in the garden, feel the sun on your face and listen to the birds sing their songs of spring.
these are a few piccies that ive taken today just in the garden. its nice having a outlet for showing folk my garden, and this time of the year it gives me a lot of pleasure. it can be hard work keeping it up together because there is a lot of it and its all on a steep slope but i usually find it very theraputic getting my hands grubby and its where i do a lot of thinking and putting the world to rights in my head.

today i am a very happy chappy indeed and its all thanks to a lovely lady called Glor who has become my first ever follower. thankyou Glor from Crochet galore you have really made my day. your blog is a real pleasure to read and like many of the other blogs i read your post are always uplifting and inspiring. i hope you are also having a really lovely day and that the sun is shining for you.

i have been taking advantage of this lovely spring weather to sit outside in the garden and do a spot of lovely knitting. there is nothing better for the soul than sitting knitting listening to the sounds of the garden. i recently received a parcel of lovelyness from amazon. how exciting is it to get a parcel through the post. one of the books i had ordered was 20 Knitted Flowers by Susie Johns. all very simple patterns to follow and knit up very quickley. ive made two sweet williams which i think i may give to my mum for easter. shes coming to mine tomorrow  for an easter day lunch of roast lamb with all the trimmings.

im really please with how they have turned out. i sewed some matching  buttons on and glued clasps to the back and hey presto a pretty adornment for my lovely mum to enjoy.

me and hubby took chocolate charlie out for a walk in the woods this afternoon. we use the woods on very hot days because its just to hot for charlie and he starts puffing and panting. the woods by me are wonderful at the moment, lovely and cool with deep green dappled shade and a carpet of wild garlic which is at its best right now. we pick some of the leaves to pop into our teatime salads quite often but not tonight.... oh no.... because tonight is saturday night and saturday nights are all about easy suppers, usually a takeaway and a bottle of wine.

this is charlie sat in amongst the garlic posing for the camera. i think ive got more photos of charlie than any thing else. thank goodness for digital cameras where you can just snap and snap to your hearts content.

i popped into my local town this morning to have a browse around the saturday farmers market which always has a good atmosphere at this time of year. in fact next to christmas, easter is usually the busiest market day. i spent a very happy half an hour browsing in the yarn and sewing shop and look what i just couldnt resist.

the picture doesnt do the colours justice. the green is a pale sagey mint green, a chalky pink and a cream. ive got a idea that i might just crochet a cushion cover to pop in my newly decorated smallest bedroom, come study, come project room. by the way ive also just finished my tappan zee short sleeved green cardigan. just need to sew in the ends and pop some buttons on it then i will pop it on here.

i hope you are all having a wonderful easter weekend and not eating to many easter eggs.... he he enjoy if you are. Melanie x

happy easter

hello everybody, and i hope that you are all enjoying this lovely sunny weather. it really does lift the spirits when the sun shines and everything feels just fine with the world.

today i have had a lovely day making cakes for my hubbie and taking my beloved chocolate charlie for a lovely walk to the river so as he could have a swim and cool down. oh to be a dog and be able to just jump straight into the clear cool waters.

ta daaaa

they taste alot better than they look and hubbie was very appreciative. hes already eaten three. hes one of those very lucky people that can eat whatever whenever and never piles on the pounds.

my walk this afternoon was so peaceful and tranquil. i just love being out with charlie especially when the suns shining and the whole world just seems to sparkle

a few little miracles in my garden

me and hubbie had a night in barcelona on monday. the weather was lovely and we had a wonderful time just strolling around and sampling scrummy tapas and spanish wine. we stumbled on a antique and vintage market and i spent ages just browsing every stall and ohhhing and ahhing over everything.

when we got back to the hotel the management had left us a lovely surprise. we felt very spoilt and it made our trip very special.

a very happy easter to you all and hoping you all get lots of yummy chocolate eggs. Mmmmmm easter egg chocolate is sooooo delicious.

a lazy monday

hello to everybody and how are we all today? i havent been so well over the weekend. have had a bit of a tummy bug that kept me in my bed yesterday. i was disapointed because i had invited my parents up for a lovely sunday roast as it was mothers day. i had spent saturday making a delicious apple custard cake with a toffee sauce and had planned to cook roast lamb with all the trimmings. sadly i had to cancel but luckily my lovely sister invited mum and dad over to hers instead so at least mum had a lovely day.

anyway im feeling so much better today and have spent the day resting and watching day time television and doing a spot of knitting. how often is it we get to have a peaceful day doing not much so im making the most of my recoperation day. back to work tomorrow.

i have photographed some of my makes that i thought you all might be interested in seeing. and here are a few of them.

this little knitting bag was made out of scrap bits of fabric that i had in my sewing box. always nice to use up old bits of scraps. the handles were a freebie in a knitting magazine last year i think.

reading other peoples blogs always inspires me for something to write in mine and today is no execption. i always love reading coco rose textiles , and her crochet pictures got me hunting out a wip of mine that i started many years ago and had lain hidden at the bottom of my yarn chest. so ive dug it out and taken a piccie to pop on here. the colours are very garish but it was made with odds and ends out of my mothers knitting bags. i say bags because she like me has them all over the house.

ta ta for now and hope your week is a good creative one.

friday at last

hello to anybody that is reading my blog and here is hoping that you are having a lovely creative kind of day which is exactley what i am hoping for just as soon as ive finished dreaded housework. if only housework had never been invented and i could spend my days off peacefully knitting and crafting..... he he wouldnt that be just fab.

i promised on my last blog that i would post some piccies of my knitted bits and bobs and that was ages ago now and i still havent done it. well here a few garments that ive photographed and hopefully will get around to adding a few more very soon.
this is what im knitting at the moment. its a lovely green double knit short sleeved cardigan knitted on circular needles from the top down so no sewing up at the end. i got the inspiration for this cardi after reading one of my fav blogs foxs lane and i downloaded the pattern from ravelry. its nearly finished now and hopefully il be posting a finished pic very soon. cant wait to wear it.

a meadow sweet scarf that i knitted some time ago using hand dyed isle of skye merino lambs wool. its a lovely easy herring bone pattern that came with the yarn and i have loved wearing it during the cold winter. it always reminds me of a happy day spent finding the yarn shop and the beautiful scenery of the isle of skye. the yarn is made and dyed by......
happy weekend to everybody and i hope to post again very soon X
